One Big Thank You
My name is Jim McLelland.
Having lost 2 wives to cancer, I wondered how I could ever thank all the staff at Dumfries and Galloway Infirmary for all their care and support – medical and emotional – who helped me and my family (as they do with so many other families) get through these tremendously hard times.
By staff I mean not just medical staff but cleaners, porters, secretaries, volunteers – everyone who contributes to the hospital’s professional and caring service.
This led me to the idea of an annual fundraising Event called One Big Thank – You – a day of music, stalls, food and events. Myself I will do a 12 hour shift (lots of walking and some running). Money raised is a thank- you from every person living in Dumfries and Galloway. Imagine the impact if everyone in Dumfries and Galloway gave just £1 each – we could raise £148,000.00.
The Park Event is the main fundraising day although there is Just Giving page that accepts donations all year. I was wondering if your Community Council would be interested in making a donation– no matter what amount –or have any fundraising ideas.
Going forward, I am hoping that many local Communities will hold fund rising events throughout the year.
