GIRFEC Website Launch
What is this briefing about?
The GIRFEC Leadership Group in Dumfries and Galloway have launched a new GIRFEC website. This will be a one-stop-shop for local GIRFEC tools and guidance, and information about services and supports in the region.
What is the background to this?
This website is the successor to our former Children’s Services website. The site was developed in response to feedback from multi-agency staff attending our Sharing Practice Festivals. Staff wanted to see a directory with information about services in our region, and to be able to access our GIRFEC materials in one place. We have revised our Request for Assistance Form and our GIRFEC Practitioner Guidance and these can be found on the new site.
Parents, carers and other stakeholders have also fed back to us that they wanted to be able to navigate the services and supports available to families from a single online location.
How can I access the site?
It’s available at blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/dg/girfecdg/ and it’s accessible to all staff and the general public.
You can also scan the QR code below using the camera on your smartphone or device to access the website.

What does this mean for parents and carers?
If you would like information about local services and supports available for families please visit the site and save it to your favourites.
What does this mean for practitioners working with families?
Please can you visit the website and save it to your favourites.
If you have any old versions of the Request for Assistance Form, or the GIRFEC Practitioner Guidance, please delete these and use the ones on the new website.
Please can you let colleagues and families that you work with know about the site. We have posters and business cards with the QR code, and we will be distributing these across our children’s services partnership.
