Case Study: Helen Wood

From Functional Fitness Test to StrongHER Success

In March, Helen Wood completed the Functional Fitness Test, a seven-exercise assessment designed to provide an overall of mobility, strength, balance, and cardiovascular ability.

Motivated by her results and inspired to build confidence in her strength, Helen joined Lyndsey’s 6-week StrongHER programme shortly after. Throughout the course, she committed fully to the sessions, steadily improving her technique, stamina, and self-confidence. Her consistency paid off and by the end of the programme, she was lifting heavier, moving better, and pushing herself in ways she hadn’t expected.

With a new sense of capability, Helen took the next step and joined DG One Gym, signing up for a full membership to continue her progress independently. She now trains regularly and has reached an impressive 75kg deadlift — a milestone she once thought was far beyond her reach.

Reflecting on her journey, Helen shared:

“If it wasn’t for taking the Functional Fitness Test, I would never have even thought of doing that in my wildest dreams. It’s kinda addictive now.”
