We have received the following information from Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland about courses available for supported self-management for people with long-term chest, heart and stroke conditions
My name is Anisa Doubell, and I am getting in touch to introduce myself and my role with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland. We are beginning a series of Supported Self-Management courses across Dumfries and Galloway, and I wanted to share some information with you.
These courses are designed to support people living with chest, heart, or stroke conditions by helping them build confidence, manage their health, and connect with others. They are completely free, and individuals can self-refer without needing to go through a GP or healthcare professional, by calling our adviceline number. Our aim is simply to spread the word so that anyone who may benefit knows this support is available.
I have attached an electronic leaflet with further details. If you would prefer physical leaflets to share within your community, I would be very happy to send some out—just let me know the best address.
You may also wish to share the leaflet on a local community noticeboard or through your social media pages, if that is something you manage. If you would prefer a poster instead, please let me know. Our communications team is currently designing one, and I would be happy to send it to you as soon as it is ready.
We are also currently looking for volunteers who may be interested in supporting the delivery of these courses. This involves giving around three hours of their time each week for six weeks. Volunteers receive full, free training and work alongside our team to help participants get the most from the programme.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further, please feel free to contact me by email or phone.
Kind regards,
Anisa Doubell
