COUNCIL BUDGET CONSULTATION 2025/26 – 2027/28
In common with all local authorities, Dumfries and Galloway Council faces significant financial pressures in the years ahead. We have already made savings of £130 million over the last 15 years by prioritising services, reducing management and delivering services more efficiently.
It is predicted that our council faces a £30 million funding gap over the next three financial years due to the reduced funding we receive – we need to find £10m a year over the next three years to balance our budget.
Our council’s large rural geography and increasing demand for services make these financial pressures even more pressing, and that is why we have launched our Budget Consultation process – to seek the views of all residents and stakeholders across our region to demonstrate the priority areas for our residents, businesses and communities which will then be presented to councillors of Dumfries and Galloway Council who will set the Council Budget in February 2025.
A number of Budget Savings Options (VIEW HERE) have been prepared by Council Management Team for consideration by councillors and it is those which we are consulting on at this time. It is important to stress that these are proposals and councillors will consider these along with other political proposals, at the budget setting meeting in February 2025. No decisions have been made.
YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS – HAVE YOUR SAY!
