Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Active Communities programme delivers a range of activities or clubs which will encourage you to be more active, meet new people, do something new and have fun.
What is Gentle Movement? Classes involve low impact, seated activities which could include boccia (similar to French boules), shibashi/qigong movements, indoor curling, coordination activities or seated exercise to music.
What is Strength and Balance? Designed to support balance and mobility. Suitable for people unsteady on their feet, who are worried about falling or have had a fall. These classes are very low impact and mostly seated.
Stroll and Strength Walks are low mobility walks which include a short 20 minute walk and 10-15 minutes of strength and balance exercises. These walks are suitable for people who walk at a slower pace or perhaps use walking aids. The exercises are important for improving strength, balance, stamina, flexibility and can help prevent falls.
Walking groups are a supportive and welcoming way for you to start to enjoy the many benefits of being physically active.
We have a range of weekly walks available across Dumfries and Galloway and they are FREE to attend.
